The Department of General and Russian Linguistics of the Philological Faculty of RUDN University invites you to take part in the International Conference LANGUAGE AS ARTS: FUNCTIONAL SEMANTICS AND POETICS dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Professor L.А. Novikov’s birth, to be held in Moscow, Russia, 14 - 15 april 2022.

The Conference is devoted to modern issues of functional linguistic semantics and semiotics, literary text and discourse, poetics and rhetoric, intercultural communication, theory and practice of literary translation.

    • Theoretical and methodological issues and interdisciplinary character of functional semantics.
    • Semantic continuum: language and text.
    • Semantic field as a range of senses.
    • Semantics and semiotics interaction. Textual semiosis.
    • Language as a semiosphere.
    • Data collecting technologies (IT) and semiotic modelling.
    • Specific semantic dominants in language and text.
    • Semantic parameters of literary text and discourse (stylistics, poetics, rhetoric).
    • Semiotics of culture and cross-intercultural communication.
    • Category of imagery in literary text and translation.

THE CONFERENCE FORMAT
    • Online participation (ZOOM).
    • Languages of the Conference: Russian, English.
    • Participation fee: 2 000 RUR.
    • All speakers will receive a Participant Certificate.
    • Participants’ papers will be published in the digital Conference proceeding, indexed in the RSCI (Russian Science Citation Index).
The organizing committee reserves the right not to consider submissions which do not meet the subject and specified requirements of the Conference.
